To Graham H. Chapin (unreadable) Junogate of the County of Wayne,
The petition of Almira Gillet a minor showeth that your petitioner is now a resident of the said County & that she was age sixteen years on the twenty ninth day of March 1831 as she has always understood & verily believes to be true. Your petitioner is desirous to have a guardian appointed during her minority and hereby nominates Spencer Chapin of the town of Port Bay in said County to be her guardian, and prays that the said Spencer Chapin may be appointed accordingly.
Dated the 20th day of June 1831.

Wayne County (unreadable): John Hyde being duly sworn says that he is well acquainted with the above named Almira Gillet who resides at Port Bay in the county of Wayne & that after the settlement of the Estate of her deceased father, the said Almira will have no real or heiroual estate left her; and this defendent saith he saw the said Almira sign the aforegoing petition & that the facts set forth herein are true & further he saith not-- John Hyde
